From 25 to 28 March 2019 the international BIM community meets at the buildingSMART International Standards Summit in Düsseldorf, Hilton Hotel. The focus of this internationally high-ranking conference on the digitization of the construction industry will be the further development of open and manufacturer-neutral standards and interfaces. On 29 March 2019 the17th buildingSMART User Day is taking place at the same location. This day offers more than 35 lectures on current and practice-relevant topics relating to BIM and digitization in the construction and real estate industries. Around 500 participants are expected to attend each of the two major events.
During the buildingSMART International Standards Summit, around 500 participants from all over the world will meet to work on manufacturer-neutral and open standards for BIM and other digital tools and methods for the construction industry. The Summit starts with the Opening Plenary on Monday, 25 March 2019 at 9:30 am. The Lord Mayor of Düsseldorf, Thomas Geisel, is going to welcome the international guests and participants of the buildingSMART International Standards Summit. There is going to be a high number of keynote speeches with high-ranking personalities from business and politics as well as discussions on topics around the digitization of the construction industry. Ina Scharrenbach, Minister for Home, Communal Affairs, Construction and Equal Opportunities of North Rhine-Westphalia, will open the Welcome Dinner on Monday evening at the striking location “Rheinterrasse” on the Rhine. Tuesday and Wednesday, the supporting program BIM at its Best is offering insights into current and partly international BIM projects and solutions. The framework program runs parallelly to the working groups in which the international and national experts of buildingSMART will work on various open digitization standards. The buildingSMART International Standards Summit concludes on Thursday, 28 March 2019 with the Closing Plenary. Here the results of the working groups are going to be presented. Keynote speeches by various business leaders are also planned.
The 17th buildingSMART User Day, which is one of the most prominent BIM events in Germany marks the end of this intensive buildingSMART week. In more than 35 lectures and presentations on Friday, 29 March 2019, current and user-related aspects of BIM and digital methods and tools are highlighted. In addition, important cross-cutting topics such as legislative or regulatory issues will be addressed. The 17th buildingSMART User Day is going to be introduced by the traditional evening reception of buildingSMART Germany on Thursday, 28 March 2019. This is an excellent opportunity to establish and maintain contacts and networks.
